Here are a few helpful tips for keeping your new flowers fresh and beautiful as long as possible!
1. If you have received a bouquet wrapped in paper, give the stems a fresh cut with a sharp knife or sharp pruning shears. Try not use regular household scissors as they tend to crush the stems and restrict the ability of the flowers to drink. Place flowers in cool, fresh, water. A quick note: there is no need to add flower food or sugar or lemon or vinegar. There is more of a chance of creating an environment where bacteria can thrive if you introduce anything other than cool, clean, water.
2. Do a quick check and remove any foliage that is below the waterline as it will rot and cloud the water reducing the life of your flowers.
3. If you have received a vase arrangement, after removing it from the packing box/materials, check the water level in case some of the water spilled during transport. Refill as necessary and make sure the water level is at least an inch from the top of the vase.
4. Place where you can best enjoy them but do your best to avoid direct sunlight or drafts.
5. Change out the water every other day.
6. As individual flowers fade, be sure to remove them to prevent the transfer of mold or bacteria.
